NY MRTA (Cannabis Law Β§222) permits adults 21+ to grow up to 3 mature and 3 immature plants per person, 6 mature/6 immature per household. Must be out of public view.
New York Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA, 2021) allows home cultivation statewide; home grow became effective when Office of Cannabis Management issued regulations. Plants must be secured from minors and not visible from a public place. Landlords may restrict cultivation in lease. Smoke/odor may trigger local nuisance complaints. Dutchess County cannot ban home cultivation (state preemption). No local registration required.
