How tall does a backyard pool fence need to be in unincorporated Clark County?

At least 60 inches high above adjacent grade, measured from outside the enclosure. The barrier must be non-climbable and four-sided, with no more than 4 inches of clearance at the bottom. Public pools require at least 72 inches. These requirements come from CCC Chapter 22.20 adopting the ISPSC with Southern Nevada Amendments §305.2.1.

Do I need a self-closing, self-latching gate on my pool fence?

Yes. Under the Southern Nevada Amendments to ISPSC §305.3, every gate that is part of the pool barrier must be self-closing and self-latching, must open outward (away from the pool), and the latch release must sit 3 to 6 inches from the top of the gate. Openings within 18 inches of the release cannot exceed 1/2 inch. A pool kept without a compliant barrier may also be abated as a public nuisance under NRS 444.110.
