Corona FAQ

Menifee FAQ

Where can I let my dog off-leash in Menifee?

Only in posted off-leash dog-park areas operated by the city's Community Services Department, or on fully enclosed private property. Anywhere else — sidewalks, neighborhood streets, regular park grass, school grounds, trails — your dog must be on a leash held by a competent person.

Does Menifee require dog licenses?

Yes. Through Animal Friends of the Valleys, Menifee requires all dogs to be licensed at 4 months of age or within 30 days of moving into the city. Licensing also requires current rabies vaccination, and the city additionally requires the dog be spayed/neutered and microchipped before issuing the license.

What happens if my dog gets picked up at large?

AFV will impound the dog at the Wildomar shelter (33751 Mission Trail). You will pay impound fees, daily boarding, and any unpaid license/vaccination fees to redeem the dog. Repeat at-large incidents can lead to a potentially-dangerous-dog hearing under Cal. Food & Agric. Code § 31602.

What's the leash-length rule?

Menifee/AFV regulations do not set a specific maximum leash length in feet, but require that the dog be under the direct physical control of a competent person at all times in public. Retractable leashes are permitted so long as you can actually restrain the dog.
