The property owner, any City Council member, or the Landmark Commission may initiate a designation case. Staff then prepares a significance report for Commission, CPC, and Council review under Chapter 51A-4.501.
Grand Prairie FAQ
How do I get my building designated a historic landmark?
Apply to the Texas Historical Commission for state-level recognition such as RTHL, and to your city for local landmark designation. Dallas County has no landmark designation program.
What's a State Antiquities Landmark?
A state designation under TX Government Code Chapter 442 for buildings, sites, or districts of state significance. Alterations require Texas Historical Commission approval.
