Are roosters allowed in Detroit?

No. The 2024 Animal Husbandry Ordinance explicitly excludes roosters. Only hens, ducks, and honeybees were authorized under the amendment. Keeping a rooster remains a Chapter 6 violation.

How far must my coop be from neighbors?

Coops, runs, and shelters for chickens or ducks must be at least 30 feet from any neighboring home and at least 5 feet from any property line, per the husbandry amendment to Chapter 50.
