Home occupations in Hillsborough County are limited in client visits to protect residential character. Typical limits are no more than one client vehicle at a time and no more than six client visits per day, with no visits before 8 AM or after 8 PM. Deliveries must use standard residential vehicles.

Tampa cannot set numeric customer-visit caps on home businesses because Florida Statutes §559.955 requires home businesses to be treated like any residence for traffic and parking. The operative standard is that the home business must not generate more traffic, deliveries, or parking than a comparable residence on the same street. No off-site parking on grass or rights-of-way is allowed, and excess traffic can trigger a nuisance citation.
