Yes. When a dwelling wall serves as part of the barrier, audible alarms on doors leading to the pool area are generally required under the adopted residential code.

Who is responsible for barrier compliance at my condo?

The association that owns the common elements is responsible. Unit owners who alter a pool or deck in a limited common area can also be cited if their work breaches the barrier.

Do glass pool fences count?

Yes. Frameless or framed glass panel fences are allowed if they meet the four-foot height, provide no climbable footholds, and use self-closing, self-latching gates compliant with Section 16-6.2.
