Do I need a permit for a 10x10 shed in San Leandro?

A 10x10 shed is exactly 100 sf, so it falls under the 120 sf building-permit exemption — provided it has no electrical, plumbing, or habitable use, and is under 8 ft tall. You still must meet the 5-ft side/rear setback in the RS zone and may not place it in the required front yard.

Can I put a shed against my back fence?
