Can I grab cans from someone's blue cart?

No. Removing recyclables from a container set out for collection is scavenging — prohibited under Rialto Municipal Code §8.08.030 and punishable as theft under Cal. Pen. Code §496.

Victorville FAQ

Do I have to separate food scraps?

Yes. SB 1383 requires all residents and businesses to place food scraps and food-soiled paper in the green organics cart. Mixing them into trash is prohibited.

What can go in the blue cart?

Clean paper, flattened cardboard, plastic bottles and tubs, metal cans, and glass bottles and jars. No plastic bags, food-soiled items, or electronics.
