Bucks County, PA Drone Rules: Commercial Drones (2026)

Commercial unmanned aircraft operations in Bucks County are governed by FAA Part 107 (14 CFR Part 107). Remote pilots must hold an active Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate obtained by passing the Unmanned Aircraft General Knowledge test at an FAA-approved testing center, with recurrent training every 24 months. Commercial uses common in Bucks: real estate aerial photography (high volume in the active central Bucks and river town markets like New Hope and Yardley); roof, bridge, and cell tower inspections; construction progress documentation; land surveying and mapping; wedding and event cinematography; and precision agriculture on Bucks farmland. Key Part 107 operational limits: below 400 ft AGL (or within 400 ft of a structure at higher altitude), daytime or twilight with anti-collision lighting, within visual line of sight, not over non-participants without Category 1-3 certification, max 100 mph, and requires LAANC or ATC authorization in controlled airspace. Bucks County airspace is complex — flights near Horsham Air Guard Station (former NAS Willow Grove), Doylestown Airport, Quakertown Airport, Trenton-Mercer Airport, and the Philadelphia Class B veil routinely require LAANC. Waivers for night operations, operations over people, beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS), and moving vehicle operations must be obtained in advance from the FAA. Remote ID compliance (14 CFR §89.510) has been required since March 2024. Bucks County municipalities may not regulate airspace (preempted by federal law) but may regulate takeoff/landing on municipal property and related business licensing.
