The county's residential fence detail sets several placement rules regardless of height: the fence must be on the owner's own property and not within a street or alley right-of-way; access or walkway easements may not be fenced; and at a street corner a 3-foot height limit applies to all fences or plants within the sight triangle (15×15 feet at a street/alley, 10×10 feet at an alley/alley). The property owner is responsible for the accuracy of information provided, and a survey is recommended where lot lines are uncertain. Pool-enclosure fences must also meet Baltimore County Code §13-6-101 barrier standards.
Fences in rights-of-way, easements, or violating sight-triangle limits are enforced by Permits, Approvals and Inspections; owner must relocate or lower the fence.
