Florida Forest Service recommends 30 feet of defensible space with low vegetation and no combustible mulch within 5 feet of structures. Owners must maintain cleared firebreaks where required by Orange County Fire Rescue after wildfire events.
Notice of violation gives 10-14 days to abate. Noncompliance: county contractors clear the lot and lien the property for actual cost plus $300 administrative fee. Repeat violations: up to $500/day per Chapter 162 FL Statutes.
