Arizona allows adults 21 and older to carry loaded firearms openly or concealed in private vehicles without a permit, subject to limited restrictions.
ARS 13-3102 governs the carrying of weapons, including inside motor vehicles. Adults 21 and older who are not prohibited possessors may carry a loaded handgun concealed in a vehicle without a permit. Persons under 21 may transport a firearm in a vehicle if it is unloaded and in a case, holster, scabbard, pack, or luggage, or carried in plain view. Drivers stopped by police must accurately answer questions about firearm presence when asked. Preemption in ARS 13-3108 prevents cities and counties from imposing stricter vehicle-carry rules.
Misrepresenting the presence of a weapon to an officer or carrying while a prohibited possessor is a class 1 misdemeanor or felony under ARS 13-3102.
