Quiet hours in Milton, FL — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
In unincorporated Santa Rosa County, nighttime runs 9:01 p.m. to 6:59 a.m., when noise measured at a residential receiving property may not exceed 60 dB(A). Daytime (7 a.m.–9 p.m.) the residential limit is 70 dB(A).
Chapter 14, Article VI of the county Code sets receiving-property noise limits by time of day. Residential property: 70 dB(A) day (7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.), 60 dB(A) night (9:01 p.m.–6:59 a.m.). Non-industrial, non-residential: 80/75 dB(A). Industrial: 85/80 dB(A). Noise is measured on the A-weighted scale at the receiving property line, not the source. A reading counts as a violation only if it exceeds the limit for more than 20% of a five-minute measurement period. Rules apply only to the unincorporated county, not Milton, Gulf Breeze, or Jay.
First noise-limit violation $100; second doubles to $200; third and later triple ($300) or up to 60 days imprisonment. Each calendar day is a separate offense; a warning is given first.
