Oversized vehicles such as motorhomes, large trailers, and heavy trucks in unincorporated Nevada County are governed by California Vehicle Code parking rules and County right-of-way limits; the County has no separate posted oversized-vehicle grid, but obstruction, 72-hour, and snow-area rules all apply.
Unincorporated Nevada County does not run a citywide signed oversized-vehicle parking program. Large vehicles are instead regulated under the California Vehicle Code and County road rules. A vehicle of any size left standing on a public highway for 72 or more consecutive hours may be removed under California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k). Section 22500 bars stopping or parking that blocks travel lanes, intersections, crosswalks, bridges, or driveways - constraints that bite hardest for wide or long vehicles on narrow rural roads. The County may restrict heavier commercial vehicles (10,000+ lb GVWR) in residential districts under Vehicle Code Section 22507.5, and may restrict parking generally by ordinance or resolution with signage under Section 22507. In designated snow areas, oversized vehicles left in the county road right-of-way during snow-removal operations are unlawful and can be moved or towed so plows and blowers can clear to the stake line. Storing a large RV, trailer, or boat on a private residential parcel is regulated by the County's zoning setbacks rather than the traffic code; occupancy of a recreational vehicle is separately limited by Code Section 12.03.150. Encroachment of an oversized vehicle or object into the right-of-way requires a Public Works Encroachment Permit.
Oversized vehicles blocking the roadway are cited under CVC 22500; those left 72+ hours may be towed under CVC 22651(k); heavy commercial vehicles may face residential-district restrictions under CVC 22507.5; snow-area right-of-way violations carry County fines and liability.
