Prince George's County does not run a special garage-sale permit program for the property-standards code, but sale signs may not be placed in the public right-of-way and post-sale leftovers must be cleared. Illegal signs are litter and unsold bulky items must be disposed of through County collection.
The County Code imposes no countywide residential garage-sale license under Subtitle 13, but two enforcement rules apply. Sale and directional signs placed on public property or in the right-of-way are treated as litter and prohibited: the Antilitter Ordinance (Section 13-265) bars depositing litter, and DPIE removes illegal signs. After a sale, the property must remain free of accumulated rubbish; Section 13-263 requires owners to prevent litter from accumulating, and storing debris in a yard is a code violation. Unsold furniture or bulky goods should be set out for County bulky-trash collection or taken to the Brown Station Road Convenience Center. Municipalities within the County may have their own sign or sale rules, so residents in incorporated towns should check locally.
Signs posted in the public right-of-way are removed as illegal litter and can bring citations. Leaving unsold items or debris on the premises after a sale is a property-maintenance violation subject to a DPIE Notice of Violation and fines.
