Jackson's Code of Ordinances regulates yard sales to prevent permanent outdoor retail under the guise of garage sales. Each address is generally limited to three sales per calendar year, each no more than three consecutive days. All merchandise, tables, clothing racks, and signage must be removed or placed inside a garage at the close of each sale day. Unsold items left at curbside overnight trigger Chapter 14 blight citations. Signs may only be posted on private property with owner consent - placement on MDOT right-of-way along I-55, US-49, or US-80 results in removal. Clinton (Municode Chapter 18) and Byram enforce similar display and frequency rules. Unincorporated Hinds County relies on the general nuisance provisions of the Land Development Code.
