Under CCC Title 88-6, temporary garage sale signs are treated as non-commercial temporary signs. They are permitted without a permit on private property with the property owner's consent, up to six square feet in size. Signs on utility poles, traffic signs, public trees, medians, or within the public right-of-way are prohibited and may be summarily removed by County maintenance crews or reported as litter under Public Works regulations. Per content-neutral sign rules following Reed v. Town of Gilbert, the County cannot impose special rules targeting garage sale signs specifically, but generally applicable rules on duration require removal of abandoned or deteriorated signs. Signs should be posted no more than 24-48 hours before the sale and removed within 24 hours of the sale's conclusion.
