New Castle County UDC Article 6 classifies garage sale signs as temporary signs. On-premises signs up to 4 square feet may be posted 48 hours before the sale without permit. Signs may not be affixed to utility poles, traffic signs, trees in the right-of-way, or placed on public property. DelDOT right-of-way placement is prohibited statewide under 17 Del. C. §1110. Signs must be removed within 24 hours after the sale ends. Most Wilmington neighborhoods allow similar temporary signage.
