Temporary garage sale signs are permitted on private property only. Posting on utility poles, street signs, or city property is prohibited under Yonkers Code Chapter 109. Signs must be removed within 24 hours of sale end.
Yonkers Code prohibits affixing any sign or poster to public property including utility poles, traffic signs, trees in the ROW, and light standards. Signs on your own lawn are allowed. Signs placed without permission on private property are subject to removal. DPW removes illegal signs and can bill the responsible party.
Illegal signs on utility poles: $50-$100 per sign. Not removed post-sale: additional fine per day.
