Connecticut Has No E-Verify Mandate

Connecticut has not enacted a statute mandating use of the federal E-Verify employment eligibility verification system for private employers or general state contractors. Federal Form I-9 employment eligibility verification remains required for all employers under federal law, but Connecticut has declined to impose additional state-level E-Verify obligations. Some federal contractors operating in Connecticut must use E-Verify under federal contracting rules, but this is a federal requirement rather than a state mandate. Municipalities cannot impose their own E-Verify mandates inconsistent with the statewide voluntary framework.

No state penalties exist for declining to use E-Verify; federal I-9 violations remain enforceable by federal authorities.
