Maine Statewide Rule
Maine's Bureau of Parks and Lands restricts the use of unmanned aircraft in Maine state parks and historic sites under 12 MRS § 1803 (general rulemaking authority) and the Bureau's posted rules. Drone takeoff, landing, and operation within state park boundaries generally requires a special-use permit from the Bureau. Municipalities likewise prohibit drone launch/land/operation in city and town parks under 30-A MRS § 3001 home-rule and property-management authority. 25 MRS § 4501 governs law-enforcement drone use; private park-drone rules are property-based.
