Maine state law: occupancy from MUBEC building code, no STR-specific cap

The Maine Revised Statutes contain no statute setting maximum guest counts for short-term rentals. Occupancy limits derive from two layered sources: (1) The Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC), adopted statewide under 25 MRS § 2451 and mandatory in municipalities of 4,000+ population, which incorporates the International Residential Code and International Property Maintenance Code occupancy formulas. The IPMC § 404 occupancy standard is typically 2 persons per bedroom plus 2 additional, or 200 square feet for the first occupant plus 100 square feet for each additional occupant in the bedroom. (2) Municipal STR ordinances routinely cap sleeping occupancy at 2 per bedroom plus 2. Portland's STR ordinance caps overnight guests at 2 per bedroom plus 2 additional. Bar Harbor and Kennebunkport set similar limits. Maine has NO statute analogous to Colorado HB24-1007 prohibiting familial-status occupancy limits. There is no statewide minor-guest or unrelated-persons cap.
