Utah Big Game and Wildlife Feeding Restrictions Statewide

Utah Administrative Rule R657-3 and R657-5 prohibit baiting big game for hunting and restrict intentional feeding that concentrates wildlife or attracts predators. Utah Code 23A-5-323 makes it unlawful to feed big game in a manner that interferes with state wildlife management. Feeding bears is specifically prohibited under Utah Code 23A-5-324, and creating attractants that habituate bears can result in citations. Local governments cannot authorize feeding that violates these state rules, though cities may impose additional restrictions consistent with state law.

Unlawful wildlife feeding is generally a class B misdemeanor. Bear-feeding violations carry enhanced penalties due to public safety concerns.
