Turlock, CA Accessory Structures: Carport Rules (2026)

The City of Turlock regulates carports and vehicle shade structures both as accessory structures and through specific front-yard rules. Per the Planning Division, canopies or vehicle shade structures are not allowed in the front-yard setback area, and typically the first 20 feet of a driveway is considered part of the front-yard setback; a shade canopy cannot be erected in that area under Turlock Municipal Code 9-3-203(7).
