Lynn Haven allows up to 6 chickens (no roosters) on residential property with a small per-bird registration fee. Roosters are prohibited. Coops have setback and maintenance requirements.
Lynn Haven amended its ordinances to allow backyard chickens following advocacy from residents. Up to 6 hens are permitted per residential lot with a per-chicken registration fee paid to the city. Roosters are prohibited (no crowing). Coops must be a covered enclosure providing not less than 4 square feet per bird, kept in side or rear yard only (under accessory structure rules Sec. 5.01.02), and at least 10 feet from any property line and 25 feet from any adjacent residential structure. Odors from the birds, manure, or feed cannot be detectable at the property boundary. Slaughter is prohibited. Sale of eggs from a residential single-family district is prohibited. No other livestock (cattle, goats, pigs, sheep) are permitted in residential districts.
Sec. 1-7 fines up to $500/day. Registration violation triggers Code Enforcement citation; nuisance odor or noise complaints can trigger surrender or removal orders.
