Connecticut General Statutes Β§21a-420h allows adults 21 and older to cultivate up to six plants per person and twelve per household, with growing required indoors, secured, and out of public view.
Connecticut permits personal home cultivation of cannabis for adults 21+ under CT Β§21a-420h, effective July 2023 for adult-use (medical patients gained the right earlier). Each adult may grow up to six plants, with no more than three mature at once. A household maxes out at twelve plants regardless of how many adults reside there. Plants must be grown indoors at the cultivator's primary residence, secured against minor access, and not visible from a public place. Landlords may prohibit cultivation in rental leases. Sale of homegrown cannabis remains illegal and a felony under CT Β§21a-277.
Exceeding plant limits, outdoor growing, or sale of homegrown cannabis can result in criminal charges, plant forfeiture, and civil fines under CT Β§21a-279a.
