Edison FAQ

When can I put my trash cans at the curb in Edison?

Edison expects cans to be placed at the curb the morning of collection, no later than 6:00 a.m. Putting cans out the night before is tolerated in practice but the cans must be returned to a screened storage location after pickup - leaving them in the front yard between collection days is a Chapter 15 property-maintenance violation.

Can I throw out an old couch on my regular Edison trash day?

No. Couches, mattresses, large appliances, and other 'bulk' items are special-pickup only. You must call the Edison Department of Public Works at (732) 248-7288 to schedule the pickup and receive a confirmation number. Items placed curbside without a confirmation will not be collected and you remain responsible for disposal.

New Brunswick FAQ

Where do I store my trash cans in Middlesex County?

Storage rules are set by your municipality, not the county. Check your town's solid-waste or property-maintenance ordinance for screening and curb-return requirements.

Does the county set container rules?

No. Middlesex County coordinates recycling and inspects facilities but does not regulate household bin storage. That is a municipal responsibility.
