The maximum vertical clearance between grade and the bottom of the barrier is 2 inches (increased to 4 inches over a solid concrete deck or when mounted on top of an above-ground pool).
What are the gate rules?
Pedestrian access gates must be self-closing with a self-latching device and must swing away from the pool. Where the latch release is less than 54 inches from grade, the release must be on the pool side at least 3 inches below the top of the gate, with no opening greater than 1/2 inch within 18 inches of the release. Other gates must be lockable and kept locked when the pool is not in use.
