Is there a limit on how many nights I can rent my Sugar Land short-term rental each year?

Instead, the city controls STR activity through its Conditional Use Permit (CUP) requirement under Land Development Code Sec. 2-71 and by limiting STRs to the R-2, R-3, and R-4 zoning districts. Texas has no statewide STR night cap.

Can my CUP impose a night limit on my Sugar Land Airbnb?

Yes - case by case. Each Conditional Use Permit goes through the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council, which can attach conditions such as occupancy caps, parking standards, noise standards, and on-site management requirements.
