Cumberland County, Maine does not issue tree removal permits or maintain a tree code. Removal of trees on private land is governed by each municipality's tree/landscape ordinance and, within 250 feet of protected waters, by the mandatory Shoreland Zoning Act (38 MRS Β§435 et seq.) and the vegetation cutting standards in 38 MRS Β§439-A.
