Rio Rancho city parks are open from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. under Municipal Code Section 94.04. The Rio Rancho Bosque Preserve is closed to the public between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (Section 94.22(S)). Violations of Chapter 94 carry fines from $30 to $500 set by the Municipal Judge.
Rio Rancho sets park hours in Chapter 94 of its Municipal Code, Parks and Open Spaces. Section 94.04, Hours of Operation, states that city park sites are open from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Being in a park outside those hours is a violation, and camping - residing or sheltering overnight outside permitted hours - is separately prohibited except in designated camping areas (Section 94.03). Dog park hours mirror the general parks at 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. The Rio Rancho Bosque Preserve, a protected riparian forest area, has its own closure: Section 94.22(S) makes it unlawful to be in the Preserve between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Section 94.06 adds that children under the age of ten must be supervised by a parent or responsible adult, or they use the park unsupervised at the parent's sole risk. Penalties are set in Section 94.99: for most Chapter 94 infractions the fine is no less than $30 and no more than $500, at the discretion of the Municipal Judge; Bosque Preserve violations (Section 94.20 et seq.) can carry a fine up to $500 and confinement up to 90 days. These are city park rules; a separate citywide minor curfew, if any, is addressed elsewhere in the code.
Entering or remaining in a city park between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., camping outside designated areas, or being in the Bosque Preserve between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. can result in a Municipal Court citation, with fines from $30 to $500 (and up to 90 days for Preserve violations).
