Nashua, NH Drone Rules: Recreational Drones (2026)

Drone operations within Nashua are governed by a layered federal-state framework. (1) Federal — the FAA exclusively regulates U.S. airspace under 14 CFR Part 107 (commercial Remote Pilot Certificate) and the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations at 49 U.S.C. § 44809, which requires recreational flyers to keep the aircraft within visual line of sight, below 400 feet AGL, away from other aircraft, registered with the FAA if over 0.55 lbs (FAA Part 48), broadcasting Remote ID, and the flyer must have passed The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST). Nashua Airport — also known as Boire Field — has FAA identifier KASH and a Class D controlled-airspace surface area (towered airport). Recreational and Part 107 flyers must obtain LAANC authorization through the FAA's B4UFLY app or an approved LAANC provider before launching anywhere inside the Class D surface area, which covers much of central and eastern Nashua.
