Owners may build a stronger fence but bear the extra cost themselves (971.02(B)). For non-livestock residential fences, there is no county requirement; height, material, and placement are set by your city, village, or township zoning code.
Failure to build or maintain a required partition fence can lead to a township-trustee assignment of responsibility and cost recovery certified to the property tax bill (ORC 971.16, 971.09, 971.11).
