Lake County's LDR 3.02.05 requires fences to stay out of the visibility triangle at intersections and meet minimum setbacks from roads: 15 feet from a clay or dirt road, or half the required right-of-way width from a paved roadway centerline. Fences may otherwise sit on the property line.
LDR 3.02.05.H creates a visibility triangle at street intersections where nothing may impede vision between three and eight feet above grade; the triangle extends 75, 100, or 150 feet along local, collector, or arterial centerlines. Outside that triangle (3.02.05.I), fences and walls may be placed on the property line but must be set back at least 15 feet from the outside edge of a clay or dirt road, and at least one-half of the classification's required right-of-way width from a paved roadway centerline. These are county rules for unincorporated land; each city sets its own.
A fence inside the visibility triangle or within the road setback must be relocated. Lake County code enforcement can order correction, issue fines, and require removal of obstructions that impede sight lines.
