Dutchess County, NY Fence Regulations: Permit Requirements (2026)

City of Poughkeepsie (Code Chapter 19-3.3) requires building permits for all fences, $50-$150 fee, and fences over 6 ft require engineered drawings. City of Beacon (Code Section 223-18) requires permits for fences over 4 ft in front yard or 6 ft in rear/side; $50 fee; materials review in historic districts. Town of Hyde Park (Code Section 108-91) permits fences up to 6 ft without permit in rear/side yards, 4 ft in front; permit required otherwise at $75.
