Virginia Beach restricts garage sale hours to reasonable daytime periods. Sales must comply with noise ordinance provisions and should not operate in early morning or late evening.
Sales should operate during reasonable daytime hours (typically 7 AM to 7 PM or sunset). Setup noise before 7 AM may violate noise rules. Sunday sales follow the same hours. Signs must be removed when the sale is not in progress. Enforcement is handled by Virginia Beach Code Enforcement via VB311 or (757) 385-3111. Penalties are set in the City Code and VA state law. Contact Planning at vbgov.com for current rules and to file complaints.
Operating outside hours or creating noise violations may result in code enforcement citations.
