Fort Worth Code Sec. 11A-8 prohibits weeds and grass over 12 inches on any property or adjacent parkway. Code Compliance issues a notice; if the owner fails to mow, the city contracts the work at $250 plus administrative fees and places a lien on the property.
Sec. 11A-8 of the Fort Worth Code (Chapter 11A, Division 2 β High Weeds and Grass) requires property owners to keep grass and weeds in their yards, vacant lots, and adjoining parkway areas under 12 inches in height. A code officer measures the growth, identifies the owner of record, and posts a certified notice of violation. If the owner fails to comply within the notice period, the city sends a contracted crew to mow the property, billing the owner a flat $250 abatement fee plus administrative costs payable within 30 days. Unpaid bills become a lien against the property.
Violations are Class C misdemeanors with fines up to $500 per offense in addition to the $250 abatement charge. Unpaid abatement liens accrue interest and can be foreclosed under Texas Local Government Code authority.
