Wilmington requires property owners to maintain grass and weeds at or below 10 inches. Violations are enforced by Code Enforcement.
Wilmington's property maintenance code (Ch. 4 and building regulations) requires that exterior property areas, including lawns, be kept free of weeds and overgrown grass that exceed approximately 10 inches. Code Enforcement officers may issue notices of violation to property owners, who are given a compliance deadline before the city mows and bills the owner.
Property owners receive a notice of violation. Failure to comply results in the city mowing the property and billing the owner, plus fines.
