Contracted tree work in Anne Arundel County must be performed by a Maryland Licensed Tree Expert. In the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area (1,000 feet from mean high tide), all tree and vegetation removal requires an approved Vegetation Management Plan. Trees must be marked with flagging before inspection.
Glen Burnie or county may have protected tree ordinances, especially in suburban counties (Montgomery, Howard, Anne Arundel). Heritage trees and trees over certain caliper may require permits for removal. Street trees are county/city property. Development projects require forest conservation plans per MD Natural Resources Article §5-1601 (Forest Conservation Act). Branches overhanging from a neighbor’s tree can be trimmed to property line.
