Lucas County sets no countywide outdoor-music rule. Toledo bars musical instruments, radios and similar devices from creating excessive or offensive noise that disturbs neighbors, particularly between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.; amplified performances also fall under section 507.16.
Outdoor and backyard music is regulated by city and township codes, not the county. Toledo Municipal Code 507.04 prohibits operating any musical instrument, radio, phonograph, television or noise-producing device at a volume that creates unnecessary, excessive or offensive noise disturbing neighboring inhabitants, particularly between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Amplified music through loudspeakers is separately governed by 507.16, which bars residential-area amplified sound 9:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m. and caps audibility at 200 feet. Authorized public events (parades, sports, musical productions) approved by the City are exempt under 507.12(d). Confirm rules with your city or township.
Toledo violations are minor misdemeanors, each day a separate offense (TMC 507.99). In unincorporated areas without a local code, ORC 2917.11 disorderly conduct applies.
