Sylvania's refuse program provides weekly curbside pickup. Carts may be placed at the curb after 5:00 PM the day before pickup or by 6:00 AM the day of pickup, and must be removed from the curb on the evening of collection day and stored away from the street. Carts cannot block sidewalks, driveways, or streets, and must be placed away from mailboxes, vehicles, and other obstacles. Codified Ordinances administered by the City of Sylvania govern enforcement.
The City of Sylvania's Refuse, Recycling & Green Yard Waste rules (Public Service Department) require carts to be set out no earlier than 5:00 PM the evening before pickup and no later than 6:00 AM on collection day, with carts removed and stored away from the street that evening. Carts must not block sidewalks, driveways or street travel lanes, and must be placed 3 feet away from mailboxes, parked vehicles, utility poles, and low-hanging branches to allow automated-arm trucks to grip the cart. Containers and contents are governed by the Codified Ordinances of the City of Sylvania (available through American Legal Publishing). The Public Service Department (419-885-8957) handles questions on container damage, replacement, missed pickups, and unlimited spring/fall collections.
Carts left at the curb after collection day, blocking sidewalks or roadways, or placed where the automated truck arm cannot grip them may trigger warning notices from Public Service. Repeat or unresolved violations are referred to Code Enforcement for citations under the Codified Ordinances.
