Quiet hours in Sedona, AZ — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Sedona City Code §8.25.060 prohibits unnecessary, excessive, or offensive noise in residential areas and sets strict quiet hours from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for yelling, shouting, or loud disturbing noise.
The ordinance applies to property owners, tenants, lessees, managers, and agents in possession of the property. The standard is whether a 'reasonable person of ordinary sensitivity' would be disturbed; no fixed decibel threshold is required for the residential nighttime rule. Chapter 8.25 was repealed and replaced in full by Ordinance 2021-08 to modernize the noise framework. The 9 p.m.–7 a.m. window applies to yelling, shouting, loud parties, and similar disturbances; the daytime standard still bars 'unnecessary, excessive or offensive' noise at any hour.
Civil infractions enforced by Sedona Police. Penalties escalate for repeat violations within 12 months.
