Northglenn's Unified Development Ordinance (Article 11-4) caps single-family driveways at 40% of the lot width and 50% of the front-yard area, with no single driveway exceeding 30 feet in width. Asphalt is prohibited as a driveway surface for single-family residential properties (rock/gravel allowed). Front-yard storage of vehicles is limited to 48 hours for loading/unloading; RV/boat storage in residential areas is restricted.
Northglenn updated its Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) in 2023 with new landscaping and driveway standards. Under UDO Article 11-4, the total width of all driveways serving a single-family detached dwelling cannot exceed 40% of the lot width, and the total surface area of all driveways cannot exceed 50% of the front-yard area. No single driveway can be wider than 30 feet at any point. For lots with multiple driveways, at least 6 feet of non-driveway surface must separate them. Asphalt is NOT permitted as a hard-surface material for single-family residential driveways or parking surfaces β rock/gravel is allowed as an approved surface. Vehicle loading/unloading in the front yard or driveway is limited to 48 hours. Article 11-7 and 11-33 restrict RV and boat storage in residential areas.
Driveway/parking violations are enforced by Northglenn Code Enforcement and Public Safety. The City can issue notices of violation, require removal or modification of non-conforming surfaces, and assess fines under the UDO general penalty.
