Mariposa County, CA Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Unincorporated Mariposa County encourages electric vehicle charging infrastructure through a streamlined permitting pathway. On December 20, 2022, the Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance 1182, 'Creating Sections 15.14 of County Code to Provide Expedited and Streamlined Permitting Process for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations.' This ordinance implements California Assembly Bill 1236 (2015), the statewide law that requires every city and county to adopt an ordinance creating an expedited, streamlined process for permitting EV charging stations and to administratively and ministerially approve applications that meet all applicable health and safety requirements. In practice this means a qualifying EV charger application in Mariposa County should be reviewed over the counter or electronically and approved without discretionary review or public hearings, as long as it satisfies the building, electrical, and fire codes. The ordinance addresses the permitting and installation of charging equipment rather than on-street parking enforcement at chargers; the county has no separate ordinance penalizing parking in an EV charging space. Property owners and installers should apply through Mariposa County's Building or Planning/Development Services for an EV charging station permit under MCC Section 15.14.
