Salem bars vehicles or trailer combinations over 23 feet long or 8 feet wide from residential streets except while loading. Marion County treats vehicles over 25 feet long or 8.5 feet wide as "large vehicles" restricted on rural roads.
Salem Revised Code 102.040(g) makes it unlawful to park any vehicle, or combination of vehicles and trailers, over 23 feet long or 8 feet wide on a residentially zoned street, on any street under 30 feet wide, or downtown (30-minute loading exception). On unincorporated county roads, MCC 10.10.060 restricts "large vehicles" (over 25 feet long, 8.5 feet wide, or over the axle weight limits) within 200 feet of an intersection, near residences at night, and on streets 34 feet wide or narrower. Loading and unloading are exempt in both jurisdictions.
Salem oversized-vehicle violations are civil infractions subject to citation and towing; county fines up to $50.
