Trucks with dual tires over 6,000 pounds and all trailers and semitrailers are prohibited from parking on residential roads under County Code sec. 13-42. Recreational vehicles must be stored in the side or rear yard with setbacks and screening.
Chesterfield addresses oversized vehicles through two rules. On public streets, County Code sec. 13-42 keeps heavy trucks (dual tires over 6,000 pounds), trailers, semitrailers, and trailer cabs off roads within residential districts. On private residential lots, the Zoning Ordinance requires recreational vehicles and large trailers to sit in the interior side or rear yard, at least five feet from side lines and ten feet from the rear line, with interior side-yard vehicles screened. Inoperable oversized vehicles fall under sec. 13-62 and must be shielded from view. HOA covenants frequently add stricter size limits.
Oversized vehicles on residential roads are ticketed and may be towed; yard-storage violations are enforced by zoning notice and civil penalty.
