Fayetteville's oversized-vehicle standards apply to trucks over two axles or 13,000 pounds GVWR, multi-axle trailers, and major recreational equipment such as boats, campers, RVs, motor homes and travel trailers.
The UDO defines the scope of its heavy-vehicle standards broadly. The rules apply to trucks with more than two axles or exceeding 13,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating, trailers with more than one axle, and major recreational equipment including boats, campers, recreational vehicles, motor homes and travel trailers. No heavy truck or multi-axle trailer may sit in any front yard, corner side yard, or any location closer to the street right-of-way than the principal structure. Major recreational equipment may be stored in the rear yard if kept at least six feet from all lot lines, or exempted for up to ten days a year under a Temporary Use Permit.
Storing oversized vehicles in prohibited yard areas is a zoning violation enforced by Fayetteville Development Services, subject to notice and citation.
