Unincorporated Mendocino County has no dedicated 'oversized vehicle' parking ordinance. Large vehicles are reached through the 72-hour street limit, the heavy commercial-vehicle residential ban, and the California Vehicle Code.
The Mendocino County Code does not contain a standalone ordinance defining or banning 'oversized vehicles' on unincorporated streets the way some cities do. Instead, large vehicles are addressed by general provisions. Mendocino County Code Section 15.12.091 prohibits leaving any vehicle standing on a street or highway for 72 or more consecutive hours and expressly does not exempt recreational vehicles, so an oversized RV or trailer can be towed after 72 hours. Section 15.12.090 separately bars commercial vehicles of 10,000 pounds or more unladen weight from parking overnight (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) in the designated residential areas of Hopland and Meadowbrook. Beyond these, the California Vehicle Code governs the operation and parking of oversized and overweight vehicles, including weight and size limits (CVC Sections 35000 et seq.) and the ability of local authorities to restrict parking by ordinance (CVC Section 22507). The County may also post weight-limited or no-parking segments under Section 15.12.040. Storage of large recreational vehicles and trailers on private residential property is addressed through the Zoning Code (Title 20) rather than Title 15.
An oversized RV or trailer left on a public road for 72+ hours may be towed (MCC 15.12.091). A 10,000+ lb commercial vehicle parked overnight in the Hopland or Meadowbrook residential areas violates MCC 15.12.090. Other size/weight conduct is enforced under the California Vehicle Code.
