Madera, CA Parking Rules: Oversized Vehicle Parking (2026)

Unincorporated Madera County addresses oversized vehicles through both zoning and traffic chapters. In residential areas, Zoning Code Section 18.102.090 prohibits parking any commercial vehicle of 10,000 pounds or greater manufacturer's gross vehicle weight on a residentially zoned parcel or county right-of-way unless loading is underway, allowing only one trailer-free truck-tractor on a driveway when the lot exceeds 15,000 square feet. On the road network, Chapter 10.08 (Limitations on Trucks) designates 'truck traffic routes' for vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of three tons (6,000 pounds) within mapped areas and restricts seven-ton-plus trucks on certain named roads such as Avenue 10-1/2, Avenue 11, Road 432, and the Indian Lakes Estates streets (Section 10.08.020).
